ICYMI: Following Unprecedented Data Breach, Ranking Member Scott Calls on Government Watchdog to Expand Investigation into DOGE Activities at the NLRB

WASHINGTON – Following concerning reports of Elon Musk’s DOGE gaining unchecked access to sensitive information, possibly including workers’ personal information, and potentially exposing the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) data systems to foreign actors, House Education and Workforce Committee Ranking Member Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) sent a letter requesting the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to expand its investigation of DOGE’s obscure activities at the NLRB.

In light of the revelation of the White House’s Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) potential exfiltration of sensitive, legally protected information at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB),” wrote Ranking Member Scott “I write with urgency to request that you include the NLRB in the ongoing review and assessment that you initiated in response to my letter submitted on February 6, 2025, as well as other relevant letters submitted by other congressional requestors.”

The NLRB is an independent federal agency that is charged with protecting workers’ right to organize a union; engage in protected, concerted activity with their coworkers to improve their working conditions; and collectively bargain.  As such, there have been numerous NLRB cases involving Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Tesla companies, accusing them of violating their workers’ rights.

On February 6, 2025, Ranking Member Scott sent a letter to GAO immediately following reports of DOGE’s infiltration of several federal agencies, including the Department of Labor.
